Daryl Gamm started his career
with SMI in 1969 as a laborer. He tended bricklayers until he became
an apprentice 3 ½ years later. While in the apprenticeship program he
learned blueprint reading, building layout, and teamwork in addition
to bricklaying skills. By 1977 Daryl was supervising projects
throughout the Midwest. In 1985, he was promoted to Area
Superintendent over northern Iowa, southern Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
Currently Daryl is VP of Field Operations. He is responsible for
coordination of manpower and equipment placement, estimate reviews,
and overall support for the field operations with an emphasis on
safety and quality.
Daryl’s
other duties include the training and development of the next
generation bricklayers, operators, and laborers. He is also leading
SMI’s efforts to panelize masonry systems. His knowledge and
experience add a great deal to the reputation SMI has built for
service, safety, and quality.
