RE: BAC Local 3 Negotiation Update
SMI Team - We have reached a 3-year agreement with BAC 3 that is a good pay package and maintains our competitive position.
Thank you for your confidence in us to find balance, and for your commitment to our SMI Team. Time to get back to what we do best - Build Better!

RE: BAC Local 3 Negotiation Update
SMI Team – following a 7+ hour mediation with BAC 3 we made significant progress and came close, but did not reach a deal. We requested that BAC 3 take our last proposal to the membership for a vote and they declined.
The next negotiation is tentatively set for Tuesday afternoon, May 12th, if BAC 3 is available and has a counter-offer to propose. We continue to work toward an agreement with a generous wage increase that does not further jeopardize the union’s competitive position in the market.
We encourage you to get involved and make sure your voice is heard.

RE: BAC Local 3 Negotiation Update
SMI would like to clarify our current position with BAC 3. While a new contract has not yet been reached, we remain committed to doing everything within our control to finalize an agreement as quickly as possible.
SMI agreed to a 30-day extension of the current contract, which would have allowed members to continue working while negotiations continued. We also offered to make any agreed-upon increases retroactive to May 1, 2026. The BAC 3 Negotiating Committee declined this proposal on May 1 and instead encouraged its members to strike.
This follows both parties agreeing on April 30 to engage a federal mediator. While the contractors and mediator requested to begin as soon as possible, BAC 3 requested a May 7 start date.
We want to assure you that SMI will continue to do its part and bargain in good faith to reach a resolution.
