Team Update:  December 14, 2020
3:00 p.m.

COLD WEATHER & COVID-19 BEST PRACTICES
As we move into colder weather, winter enclosures, and interior spaces we revisit best practices to stay healthy at work and at home.
  • Maintain 6’ of separation
  • Wear face coverings when 6’ social distance is not possible
  • Limit group sizes
  • Promote ventilation in enclosed spaces
  • Clean common surfaces
  • Stay home if you’re sick

A summary of COVID-19 BEST PRACTICES is posted in the resources section of our COVID-19 landing page.

We continue to monitor developments regarding the pandemic and make course corrections to protect our team as we head into the Christmas season.  If you’re sick, PLEASE STAY HOME.

As always, feel free to reach out to your direct supervisor with questions. Be safe!

Team Update:  December 7, 2020
11:00 a.m.

The Center for Disease Control has continued to update COVID-19 recommendations throughout the pandemic, recently releasing the following update to quarantine guidelines. AWS and SMI encourage all employees to follow these CDC guidelines when determining best course of action if you are exposed or experience symptoms in order to protect our team and their families.

Revised CDC Quarantine Guidelines
WHO NEEDS TO QUARANTINE: People who have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19--excluding people who have had COVID-19 within the past 3 months.
People who have tested positive for COVID-19 do not need to quarantine or get tested again for up to 3 months as long as they do not develop symptoms again. People who develop symptoms again within 3 months of their first bout of COVID-19 may need to be tested again if there is no other cause identified for their symptoms.

What counts as close contact?
  • You were within 6 feet of someone who has COVID-19 for a total of 15 minutes or more
    • IDPH excludes the quarantine requirement if a face covering was consistently worn by both people during the exposure
  • You provided care at home to someone who is sick with COVID-19
  • You had direct physical contact with the person (hugged or kissed them)
  • You shared eating or drinking utensils
  • They sneezed, coughed, or somehow got respiratory droplets on you

Local public health authorities will consider include stopping quarantine:
  • On day 10 without testing
  • On day 7 after receiving a negative test result (test must occur on day 5 or later)
After stopping quarantine, you should:
  • Watch for symptoms until 14 days after exposure.
  • If you have symptoms, immediately self-isolate and contact your local public health authority or healthcare provider.
  • Wear a mask, stay at least 6 feet from others, wash your hands, and avoid crowds

We continue to monitor developments regarding the pandemic, and make course corrections to protect our team. And as we head into the cold and flu season, PLEASE STAY HOME if you’re sick.

As always, feel free to reach out to your direct supervisor with questions. Be safe!
