Moving Toward Normal: A measured approach
We’re encouraged as we look forward to eased restrictions and a move toward normal. Our incremental moves will lag governmental proclamations by two weeks, and be implemented on a step-by-step basis.
The success we’ve had in maintaining continued progress is a result of restructured operations that replace personal interaction and face-to-face collaboration, with closed communities connected through technology. Protection is provided by limiting circulation between these closed communities:
That separation is represented in the following illustration:

We’re encouraged as we look forward to eased restrictions and a move toward normal. Our incremental moves will lag governmental proclamations by two weeks, and be implemented on a step-by-step basis.
The success we’ve had in maintaining continued progress is a result of restructured operations that replace personal interaction and face-to-face collaboration, with closed communities connected through technology. Protection is provided by limiting circulation between these closed communities:
- Our Teams on the Jobsites
- Accounting
- Estimating
- Shop/Yard Support
- Safety Staff
- Area Superintendents
- Project Management
That separation is represented in the following illustration:
Re-integration: Personal reconnection will not happen overnight. The return to “circulation” on jobsites by Area Superintendents, Project Managers and Safety Staff will be measured, strategic and incremental. Remote staff will reintegrate on a scheduled, premeditated, and logical basis. Our closed communities will open up gradually over time.
Status Quo: Our current model of operation will continue to be the status quo through May 29th. Prior to that we’ll review the effects of easing, apply it to our business model, and keep you posted as we make the move toward normal.
COVID-19 Cost Code: The current pandemic continues to change the way we work. Cleaning and disinfecting, reconfiguring crews to promote social distancing, extended A.M. Huddles, COVID-related jobsite meetings, pre-check screening, cleaning, sanitizing, expanded PPE and crew downtime should be recorded in your COVID-19 Cost Code to track the impact of the novel coronavirus.
Stay tuned for further updates on Monday – Wednesday – Friday or more often as circumstances dictate. As always, feel free to reach out to your direct supervisor with questions. Be safe!
