Golden Trowel signifies quality and excellence: Seedorff Masonry takes high honor for second consecutive year
At last month’s AIA Iowa Annual Convention, Seedorff Masonry, Inc. (SMI) was honored with the Masonry Institute of Iowa’s (MII) Golden Trowel Award for their work on Elizabeth Catlett Residence Hall at the University of Iowa. This is the second consecutive year SMI has received this award recognizing superior craftsmanship in masonry.
The award-winning residence hall is a new 1,100-bed dormitory on the University of Iowa’s campus, completed in 2017. The 12-story facility utilized over 500,000 brick, 30,000 concrete masonry units (cmu), and 8,000 square feet of Indiana limestone panels – all carefully installed by the Seedorff Masonry crew. In conjunction with the Golden Trowel, the project’s architect, Rohrbach Associates PC, also received MII’s Grand Award for their use of masonry in the design. |
