Pre-planning is perhaps the Achilles’ heel of the construction industry. Production is the activity that gets measured, and as a result, commands much of the effort and attention of our industry.
We’re different. At Seedorff, we understand the most opportune time to impact construction productivity is before it ever begins. Pre-planning of the work (through BIM or more traditional means) represents our first chance to identify and address challenges that stand in the way of the safest and most productive ways to deliver a high-performing finished product. Our Estimating Team, Project Managers, Area Superintendents, Job Superintendents, Purchasing, and Safety staff work with each other to develop a job-specific plan for each and every project. With SMI as a member of your construction team, you’ll have a Job Superintendent who will direct the day-to-day activities of the crew, an Area Superintendent who will coordinate manpower and assist the Job Superintendent as necessary, and a Project Manager who is responsible for the estimate, subcontract, pre-job meeting, shop drawings and the overall coordination of the project from start to finish. Behind the scenes we’ll have additional members of our team involved in the proper accounting of the project to ensure accurate and timely documentation of the work as it progresses. Through a collaborative effort with the Construction Manager or General Contractor, Design Team, Trade Contractors and Suppliers on the project, we will work to ensure the delivery of your project on time, within budget and of the highest quality standards. It’s not what we are that sets us apart. It’s who we are. The bricklayers, laborers and operators who actually put the work in place are among the best in our industry. Our professional staff that supports that effort is no less important, and plays a crucial role in ensuring that our crews have the resources necessary to perform the job at hand. State-of-the-art equipment and technology is another asset you’ll receive with Seedorff as a member of your team. We have all of the necessary resources, from rough terrain cranes and forklifts, to scaffold systems and fall protection that is required to complete your project on time and within budget. Two mobile service trucks and qualified mechanics are on call at all times to minimize or eliminate down time. All of these are part of the Seedorff package that prevents potential problems, saving you valuable time in your construction schedule. Some firms in the industry simply take the plans and specs and build it, without regard to experience, technical knowledge, or common sense - not us. Best practices relative to current means, methods and materials are necessities to ensure the highest quality construction possible. At Seedorff, our entire team is looking out for you and your project in an effort to deliver an exceptional finished product. We have several lines of defense. Estimating represents our first opportunity to identify possible improvements in design details or constructability, project management represents our second, and our team in the field represents our last, and best, line of defense against marginal details. Our craftsmen are experts in their field and work to ensure that we build better. Masonry protects your home or your business. We protect your investment. From our newest employee to the seasoned SMI veteran, each of us is committed to performing the work in safest manner possible. At Seedorff, we have safety professionals with formal safety training combined with extensive field experience. The end result is a thoughtful, common sense approach to safety that produces exceptional results. And the proof is in the pudding, as our EMR (experience modification rating) sits at 0.60 in one of the most dangerous work classifications in the construction industry.
